If your dog paces, pants, hides, or presses against your legs the moment thunder starts, you are not imagining a pattern. Noise-related fear is one of the most common behavioral issues vets see in dogs, and storms are one of the most frequent triggers.

Vets and trainers have long used swaddling-style pressure on nervous dogs, the same idea behind swaddling an infant or a weighted blanket for a person. Gentle, constant pressure across the torso is thought to have a calming effect on the nervous system, which is the working theory behind compression-style anxiety wraps.

In owner-reported surveys on compression garments as a category, results vary by product and by dog. One survey found roughly 70% of owners reported improvement after several uses of a cape-style wrap, and another found about 89% reported at least partial improvement with a fitted wrap after five uses. These are category-level, owner-reported figures, not clinical guarantees, and no wrap works for every dog.
